Russel Westbrook III, or better known as Russel Westbrook, was born on November 12, 1998. He was taken to Shannon Horton and Russel Westbrook Jr. He has a younger brother. He studied in the Leuzinger High School, and he played as a point guard. Although he played exceptionally well, he did not attract many colleges. He was later offered a scholarship by Ben Howland to study under UCLA Bruins.

He was selected by NBA head coaches to be a Western Conference reserve in the 2011 NBA All-Star Game. In 2012, he was again chosen to play the 2012 NBA All-star Game. He was again selected for the 2013 game.

In 2013, he suffered from an injury and had surgery and could not play the entire playoffs. He had another surgery soon. He came back to play in 2014.

In August 2017, he signed a contract for an extension for 3 years for a whopping 85.7 million USD. In the same year, at the first NBA Awards, he received the NBA Most Valuable Player Award. He signed another contract of extension for 205 million USD for 5 years.  This was a guaranteed contract that guaranteed him 233 million USD by the end of his contract in 2023. He had another surgery in 2018 and missed the preseason of 2018. In 2016, he was traded to Houston Rockets.
